Location: Aiea, HI (On-site)
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: Shift scheduled between 6:30am – 6pm

Full-time: Benefit Eligible, 40hr/wk

Salary: $67,000 - $72,000

Position Summary

The Senior Technician / Server Administrator is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of the local lab Microsoft and VMware environments. This role requires a strong foundational knowledge of Windows Server, Windows workstations, and Active Directory.

The Senior Technician / Server Administrator will install, administer, and optimize server infrastructure to ensure high performance of supported business applications. This includes maintaining the availability of virtualization hosts, supporting new system implementations, and developing processes and procedures for the ongoing management of the server environment. This role works closely with the SHUSA Server Team to monitor, maintain, and optimize system performance.

Essential Functions

  • Provide day-to-day administration and support of Windows Server environments, including Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, and file and print services

  • Maintain and manage software licensing inventory to ensure compliance

  • Perform backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and reliability of backup procedures; monitor daily backup activities and manage offsite storage processes

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects and administrative templates in collaboration with the SHUSA Server Team

  • Develop and maintain scripts in accordance with organizational standards and templates

  • Conduct daily system monitoring to ensure the integrity, availability, and performance of hardware, server resources, and key processes

  • Review system and application logs and verify successful completion of scheduled tasks such as backups

  • Perform regular file archival and data purging in accordance with data retention policies

  • Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers and IT specialists to implement server enhancements and design modifications

  • Provide technical support to end users and troubleshoot reported issues as needed

  • Deliver Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support for escalated issues, including:

    • User authentication, password, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) issues

    • Account lockouts and access permission troubleshooting

    • File share access, drive mapping, and permissions management

    • Microsoft Outlook and Exchange Online support

    • Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and collaboration tool support

    • Network connectivity, VPN, printer, and remote access troubleshooting

    • Software installation, updates, and configuration support

    • Onboarding and offboarding activities, including account provisioning and equipment setup

  • Apply operating system patches, updates, and upgrades to server and desktop environments in accordance with organizational standards

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including installation and configuration procedures

  • Demonstrate strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities

  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Operate independently and collaboratively within a team setting

  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required

  • Travel occasionally to support installations and infrastructure needs

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Education, Licensure, Certification

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience

  • VMware VCP and/or Microsoft MCSE certification preferred
