Position Summary:
Serve as the primary laboratory customer contact, working with customers to define the specifications for services, answer questions, communicate work status, scheduling information, and provide other necessary information. Coordinate requests for projects with laboratory leadership team and work with them to ensure the project requirements are clearly defined and communicated. Monitor project schedule, progress, and deadlines. Verify and validate laboratory data as required. Ensures all laboratory policies and procedures are followed. Accepting and supporting activities delegated by the Medical Director and Vice President – Laboratory Operations.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement improvement in systems and processes for enhanced efficiency and quality while managing growth. Identify areas of improvement and develop recommends and plans for solutions.
- Participate in the negotiation and purchasing of laboratory equipment.
- Monitor industry trends and innovations in technology to identify equipment and automation solutions to improve quality and efficiency.
- Provide consultation to laboratory leadership and stakeholders regarding laboratory systems and special projects.
- In consultation with The VP of Laboratory Operations, redesign work processes and establish operating indicators to effectively manage growth and improve efficiency and quality.
- Identify future needs of facilities, processes, equipment, and team members.
- Participate and lead special projects including but not limited to instrument/testing evaluation and cost analysis, evaluation of workflow between multiple departments, and error reduction.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor / equivalent degree in the science or education to meet CLIA/CAP regulations.
- Minimum 10 years laboratory experience.
- Leadership skills and supervisory abilities.
- ASCP certification (PREFERRED)
