Job Summary:

Sonic Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced Regional Billing Coordinator. The qualified applicant can be located at any practice location. The Regional Billing Coordinator will be responsible coordinating billing related activities for multiple practices with the external billing vendor

Essential Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing daily charge files for multiple practices for accuracy and completeness
  • Responsible for ensuring complete and accurate information by either working with the practice or external vendor for multiple practices
  • Releases charges from billing hold for charge file for multiple assigned practices
  • Communicates changes related to physicians, clients, managed care agreements, locum tenens schedules, client bill arrangements and changes in test offerings
  • Responds to inquiries and requests from the external billing vendor in a timely and accurate manner
  • Manages the client bill, AR aging, and collections to meet within defined targets
  • Provides specific reporting metrics on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly basis
  • Responsible for performing assigned SOX controls for multiple practices
  • Communicates all information received from payers to the centralized billing office
  • Communicates with practice clients to provide customer/client service
  • Completes annual training programs within the required timeframe and regularly attends staff meetings
  • Participate in any billing-related meetings held for practices, including but not limited to monthly practice reviews.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality
  • Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals
  • Adherence to HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • 4 years medical billing experience with exposure to charge entry, posting, claims processing and collections.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Equipment:

  • General office equipment including but not limited to personal computers, fax machines, copiers, and printers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in LIS (WindowPath, AP Easy or Intellipath) software systems preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a changing work environment

Environmental Working Conditions:

  • Office Setting, with some minimal time in a Laboratory Setting; minor risk of exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, blood borne pathogens and chemical hazards.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to focus. Requires visual acuity and normal color perception.

High – information access is detailed and sensitive to an individual’s demographics, service information, and personal medical history (past/present medical conditions, specifics of medical diagnosis or tests, treatment plans, and family history).
