The Cytology Supervisor manages, plans, organizes, and evaluates the daily operation, staffing, and quality of the cytology laboratory, overseeing all testing procedures and protocols in the Cytology Laboratory. The Cytology Supervisor identifies and implements solutions to issues relating to processing and data performance and participates in all QA/QC activities that affect the laboratory section and patient care.

This opportunity is:

Location: Memphis, TN

Days: Monday-Friday, Rotating Weekends and Holidays

Hours: 8:00 am- 5:00pm

Full Time: Eligible for Benefits

In this role, you will:

  • Manage laboratory operations
  • Evaluates, develops, and implements laboratory procedures, techniques, and protocols
  • Available to provide consultation to resolve technical problems
  • Oversees staffing of all personnel in the cytology laboratory
  • Serves as liaison between cytology and the pathologists
  • Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs.
  • Ensures quality control/assurance reports are up to date
  • Oversees plans and preparations for inspection (CAP, State of Tennessee, CLIA, etc.).
  • Communicates with the Sales and Customer Service team to identify and resolve client issues relating to cytology.
  • Communicates with AEL clients to resolve cytology-related problems.
  • Utilizes the LIS to report patient results accurately and effectively, following established procedures.
  • Creates the statistical reports/data required by accrediting agencies.
  • Identifies future needs in terms of staff, equipment, and facilities.
  • Submits appropriate documentation for procurement of such Documents the interpretation for each cytology case reviewed and documents the number of hours spent examining slides in each twenty-four hour period.
  • Performs related accountabilities.

All you need, is:

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited institution and completion of an AMA approved program of Cytotechnology.
  • At least (10) years of full-time experience as a cytotechnologist within the previous (15) years.
  • Hold a valid Cytotechnologist license in Tennessee and be certified by or eligible for certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists CT (ASCP).
  • Hold a valid State of Tennessee supervisor license.
