LOCATION: East Providence, Rhode Island

DAYS: Monday through Friday (Rotating Saturdays and holidays)

HOURS: 3:00pm to 11:30pm

Full time: Benefits Eligible

In this role, you will:

Independently obtain, receive and prepare microbiology specimens for planting and plants them. Conduct laboratory procedures in compliance with established protocols.

Review specimen acceptability.

Assist in storage of specimens.

Notify Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician (MLS/MLT) of any problems with specimens received.

Maintain a log of specimens received and processed within the department.

May conduct quality control testing under the direct supervision of MLS/MLT. Reports any QC problem to MLS/MLT

Record and file data obtained.

May perform and record results of waived tests following Laboratory Director approved procedure and competency evaluations.

Assist supervisor with inventory control.

May be responsible for the storage and rotation of reagents.

May assist supervisor with training department personnel

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required to work Saturday or weekend rotation as specified by departmental schedule.

All you need is:

High school diploma.

Knowledge of medical terminology and science background is desirable.

Provide required documents as noted in ESCL Driving Policy if mobile/driving duties are assigned.

We also want you to know:

This role will have Extensive sitting, phone and computer use. You need to be capable of standing continuously for up to 2 hours. Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch. May be required to lift, move and carry up to 15-20 pounds. Hearing acuity sufficient to effectively communicate with customers and Employees via telephone and in person. Ability to communicate verbally on phone and in person. Fluency in the English language. Extended hours may be required.
