Challenges you can work on
- Greenfield development of an enterprise laboratory information system
- Architect a multi-tenant application environment to reach new lines of business
- Developer for automated environment deployment solutions (Kubernetes, Jenkins, S3)
- Develop features that will drive our business through real-time feedback loops
Technologies we use
- Ruby on Rails, ActiveRecord with PostgreSQL and MySQL, BDD/TDD using Capybara with RSpec and Cucumber
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain back end solutions using Ruby on Rails framework:
- Follow team standards for development practices.
- Provide appropriate documentation of development work
- Perform Ruby migration tasks to upgrade to version 3.x.
- Conduct Rails migration activities to upgrade to version 7.x.
- Implement Test Driven Development (TDD) approach using RSpec to ensure code quality and reliability:
- Apply Test Driven Development practices to compose unit and integration tests, ensuring proper functionality and stability.
- Deliver clean, readable code that meets requirements.
- Work diligently to provide maximum test coverage.
- Planning and Design:
- Collaborate with front end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Utilize PostgreSQL and MySQL databases for data storage and retrieval.
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code.
- Support and Maintenance:
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across the full stack, including front end and back end components.
- Work with support teams to understand and triage defects as they arise.
- Be available to address emergency issues in a 24/7 healthcare environment.
- Culture and Team Development:
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Maintain a focus on breaking down silos.
- Ensure that all data communications are secure as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.
- Able to work in a highly secured development environment.
Requirements
- 4+ years of Rails development experience
- Excellent problem solver, with a focus on team success
- Excellent communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally across multiple teams
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment
- Advanced knowledge of various SQL languages and Git
Nice to haves
- Experience with React
- Experience with FactoryBot/FFaker
- Experience with Legacy Rails Upgrade
