Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

Position Summary:

The Medicaid Follow-Up Specialist Team Lead is responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff that carry out the management of Medicaid accounts through written or verbal direction from patients, aged trial balance reports and Medicaid rejection reports for the accurate and timely filing of claims for maximum reimbursement. Team Leads provide support to department supervisor and other Accounts Receivable departments, as needed. Team Leads assure adherence to all department policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate training and supervision of A/R Follow-Up Medicaid staff.
  • Distribution of workload to subordinates.
  • Auditing for quality control.
  • Reporting weekly, monthly, and quarterly department statistics in regards to bonuses as warranted.
  • Maintaining employee documentation; assist Supervisor with evaluations/corrective actions as needed.
  • Review refund requests.
  • Ordering and distributing team supplies.
  • Monitoring staff development on proficiency in processing the minimum stat requirement (determined by A/R Policy) within the 90-day probationary period of employment.
  • Interact effectively with other Team Leaders, Supervisors, and the Accounts Receivable Director to resolve complex issues and provide cross shift/cross function/cross organizational support.
  • Adhering to established A/R billing policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Typing (min 35 wpm) and 10 Key

Preferred

  • 3 years’ experience in standard Medicaid or related HMO plans
  • Experience with medical coding, private insurance, laboratory and/or medical billing
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Bilingual speaking skills/Spanish
  • Experience in multitasking environment
