About Janie
Janie is building AI-powered software that automates the busywork dental teams deal with every day — phone calls, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, billing follow-up. We're a small, fast-moving team and our product is live in dental practices today. If you've ever wished the front desk had better tools, we're building exactly that.
The Role
We're looking for someone with deep dental front office experience to help us make our AI phone system smarter and our insurance verification workflows tighter. This is not a traditional front desk role. You'll be helping us test and build software.
Day to day, you'll:
  • Test and evaluate our AI phone agent — listen to recorded calls, run live test scenarios, verify that appointments are booked correctly in the PMS, and document issues when the AI gets something wrong
  • Be our dental domain expert — catch things only someone with real front desk experience would notice (wrong appointment types, bad scheduling logic, insurance misunderstandings) and give direct product feedback
  • Support our insurance verification team — we have an offshore team handling dental insurance verifications. You'll review their work, answer questions, train new team members, and help maintain quality. This could be light oversight or hands-on management depending on what the team needs — flexibility and initiative matter here.
This role reports to our Product Manager.
What We're Looking For
Must have:
  • 3+ years of dental front desk experience — scheduling, insurance verification, patient communication
  • Hands-on experience with OpenDental, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or a comparable dental PMS
  • Strong understanding of dental insurance — eligibility, benefits, CDT codes, coordination of benefits
  • Technically savvy — you pick up new software quickly and aren't intimidated by tools you haven't used before
  • Detail-oriented and proactive — you notice problems before someone asks you to look for them
Nice to have:
  • Experience with dental billing or RCM workflows
  • Comfort working in a startup environment where things move fast and your role evolves
Why This Role Is Different
You're not answering phones or checking patients in. You're shaping how AI does those jobs. Your dental knowledge directly influences the product; when you flag that the AI scheduled a perio patient into a prophy slot, that feedback becomes a fix that affects every practice using our software.
If you're the person at the front desk who always thought "there has to be a better way to do this," this is your chance to build that better way.
To apply, send your resume and a brief note about your dental software experience.
