Job Title: PCB Layout Design Engineer

Experience: 3-5 years

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced PCB Layout Design Engineer to design, optimize, and develop PCB layouts for cutting-edge electronic products. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with PCB design tools, particularly Altium Designer, and a strong focus on Design for Testability (DFT) to facilitate faster prototyping and validation. Your ability to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and performance will be pivotal in delivering high-quality designs that meet industry standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities

PCB Design and Layout:

Design and develop multi-layer PCB layouts using Altium Designer or equivalent tools.

Optimize PCB designs for signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, and manufacturability.

Integrate Design for Testability (DFT) features into PCB layouts to enhance test coverage and streamline prototyping.

Collaborate with hardware engineers to translate schematics into efficient, high-performance PCB layouts.

Design Review And Validation

Conduct thorough design rule checks (DRCs) to ensure compliance with design specifications and standards.

Participate in design reviews to align layouts with performance, manufacturability, and testing requirements.

Validate and generate manufacturing outputs, including Gerber files, BOMs, and drill files.

Prototyping And Manufacturing Support

Collaborate with fabrication and assembly vendors to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).

Address DFT considerations by including test points and features to support faster debugging and validation.

Support troubleshooting of PCBs during prototyping and production, including debugging hardware issues.

Documentation And Tools Management

Maintain organized and version-controlled design documentation, libraries, and project files.

Create and manage component footprints and symbols in the design tool library to maintain consistency.

Stay updated on advancements in PCB design tools and techniques to continuously improve workflows.

Collaboration

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineers, to ensure seamless product integration.

Provide input to enhance overall hardware design processes, including layout optimization and testing strategies.

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience in PCB layout design with proficiency in Altium Designer; familiarity with other tools like Eagle, KiCad, or Cadence Allegro is a plus.

Strong understanding of Design for Testability (DFT) and its implementation in PCB layouts.

Experience with multi-layer PCB design and routing for analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.

Knowledge of PCB stack-up design, signal integrity, and power delivery optimization.

Familiarity with industry standards, including IPC-2221, IPC-7351, and RoHS compliance.

Solid understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly processes, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.

Preferred Skills

Experience with high-speed interface design (e.g., DDR, PCIe, USB) and high-density interconnects (HDI).

Knowledge of electromagnetic interference (EMI) mitigation and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design techniques.

Familiarity with thermal simulation and analysis tools.

Experience in 3D PCB modeling and mechanical integration.

Exposure to PCB testing, bring-up, and troubleshooting processes.

Working Conditions

This role involves working in a collaborative environment where attention to detail and proactive problem-solving are essential. The candidate will engage in PCB design, testing, and debugging, with occasional lab work for prototyping and validation.

Join our team to contribute to the design of innovative electronic products, leveraging your expertise in PCB layout and Design for Testability (DFT) to ensure faster prototyping and high-quality outcomes. Be part of a team driving technology innovation forward!
