Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Robotics Engineer to be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional engineering team working on next-generation telerobotic ultrasound systems. You will own the system architecture, design, implementation, testing, and integration of software components that enable remote sonographers and AI models to control robotic ultrasound devices. The ideal candidate is creative, has experience shipping products, and is passionate about developing safe, reliable, and innovative healthcare technology.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop kinematic control, safety algorithms, and general software architecture for robotic medical devices and supporting systems.
- Design and develop user-facing robot behaviors
- Lead software design and code reviews
- Lead or participate in cross-functional formal risk assessments.
- Lead or participate in system-level design and product requirements definition
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, quality, regulatory, and clinical teams, to ensure product safety and compliance.
- Develop unit, integration, and system-level tests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues to improve performance and reliability in both R&D and clinical environments
Qualifications
- Experience developing robotic and complex mechatronic systems.
- Experience working with 6+ axis arms such as Kuka, Kinova, Universal Robotics, or similar systems.
- Proficiency in C++, C, RUST, Python, Java, and or other similar real-time and scripting programming languages.
- Robotics fundamentals, including kinematics, sensors, and actuators. System dynamics and controls are a plus.
- Ability to frame analysis and experimental approaches to drive solutions to unstructured design questions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related field with a robotics concentration.
- Experience working with depth cameras (e.g., RealSense or similar) to perform depth estimation, 3D reconstruction, image classification/object detection, facial recognition, denoising, segmentation, multimodal reasoning, and/or synthetic data generation
- Working experience with developing medical devices compliant with regulatory standards, including IEC 60601-1, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
- Proficiency with collaborative robotics (cobot) and industrial automation safety control systems.
- Knowledge of usability engineering per IEC 62366.
Work Environment
This position may involve work in office, lab, and/or remote settings. Collaboration across teams and occasional travel to testing sites or manufacturing partners may be required.

- This is a hybrid role with regular onsite collaboration in Bothell, WA.
