Salary Range: $110,000 -130,000
Summary
Debut is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to join our rapidly growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, exploring, developing and executing new business opportunities through strategic relationships and joint development agreements within the personal care market. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful growth of the company into the personal care and beauty markets alongside our customers and internal brands. The candidate should be a self-starter, have extensive experience in business development and bio-based ingredients and must have demonstrated the construction and execution of several joint development agreements within the area.
Essential Functions
- Drive the development of business development strategies, financial models, and joint development agreements to drive a new era in beauty and biotechnology.
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities, including potential clients, partnerships, collaborations and acquisition targets in the synthetic biology and beauty community.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as research and development and project management to ensure the successful execution of business strategy.
- Work with the manufacturing team to validate business development opportunities with technoeconomic analyses.
- Support exploration of the IP space to ensure valid technology platform utilization to biomanufacture specific ingredients and chemicals.
- Develop project outlines, briefs, key performance indicators and budgets.
- Calculate NPV for product lines and the associated risks.
- Will create and optimize joint development strategies within the space and execute commercial agreements.
Education and Experience
- Must have a bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ experience in business development.
- You must demonstrate that you have found, designed, constructed, vetted, and executed more than two joint development agreements as the lead contributor.
- You must demonstrate you have won business development deals and can talk in depth about potential business deal structures and the benefits and cons of them.
- Must be able to define the benefits of joint development deals, vs. joint venture deals and the benefit of ingredient sale vs. licensing deals to a third party and the effect on operational cash flow and risk.
- Must have a background in biotechnology, biology, or chemistry.
- Highly proficient in Excel with advanced functions and formatting skills.
- Must operate at a quicker than normal pace in data gathering and model building.
- Must create high quality internal and external presentations with minimal to no errors.
- Knowledge of the synthetic biology market is preferred.
- Knowledge of the beauty industry is welcomed.
- Highly competitive nature and desire to grow internally.
- Demonstration of previous analytical business development is preferred.

- Continuous upward and downward flexion of the neck.
